In vivo genome editing using Staphylococcus aureus
The RNA-guided endonuclease Cas9 has emerged as a versatile genome-editing platform. However, the size of the commonly used Cas9 from Streptococcus pyogenes (SpCas9) limits its utility for basic research and therapeutic applications that employ the highly versatile adenoassociated virus (AAV) delivery vehicle. Here, we characterize six smaller Cas9 orthologs and show that Cas9 from Staphylococc...
متن کاملGenome-wide operon prediction in Staphylococcus aureus.
Identification of operon structure is critical to understanding gene regulation and function, and pathogenesis, and for identifying targets towards the development of new antibiotics in bacteria. Recently, the complete genome sequences of a large number of important human bacterial pathogens have become available for computational analysis, including the major human Gram-positive pathogen Staph...
متن کاملGenome sequence of type strain of Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus
BACKGROUND Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogen that causes food poisoning and community-associated infection with antibiotic resistance. This species is an indigenous intestinal microbe found in infants and not found in adult intestine. The relatively small genome size and rapid evolution of antibiotic resistance genes in the species have been drawing an increasing attention in public health. T...
متن کاملComplete genome of Staphylococcus aureus phage SA11.
A novel lytic bacteriophage, SA11, infecting Staphylococcus aureus was isolated, and the whole genome was sequenced. It belongs to the siphoviridae based on electron microscopic observation. It has a linear double-stranded DNA genome of 136,326 bp. Genomic analysis showed that it is distantly related to Staphylococcus phages A5W, K, ISP, Sb-1, and G1.
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of Staphylococcus aureus Bacteriophage pSa-3
Staphylococcus aureus phage pSa-3, isolated in South Korea from a sewage sample, has a 137-kb genome with 29% G+C content. This phage was targeted to control the bacteria in clinical isolates (mainly from skin lesions) and can be used in the decolonization of S. aureus.
